Heritage designation appeals by Marotta Group

Article posted on December 3, 2018

As reported earlier, the Marotta Group has appealed the Town’s heritage designation of the four Rand Estate properties to the Conservation Review Board.

SORE through its legal counsel Pat Little will be seeking party status for this hearing. The Marotta group’s lawyer has indicated he will oppose that request. See below for the Marotta group’s lawyer’s letter and SORE’s response end of last week. The Board welcomes public participation and many of you have asked how you can monitor the Board’s process and hearing.

The Board will be hosting a teleconference pre-hearing on Dec 14 at 10 am.  The case review co-ordinator for the Board is Paul Demedeiros.   You can email him at [email protected] and tell him you wish to listen in to the prehearing conference on Dec. 14 for 144, 176, 200 John St E and 588 Charlotte St in Niagara on the Lake. Please add in your email if correct that you support SORE and its objectives.
