The Town is hosting an important Public Information Centre (PIC) virtual session tomorrow evening concerning a special Character Area study of the area including the Rand Estate. This study is required under the Town’s new Official Plan. The study is being carried out by Urban Strategies, which has done similar work for the Town in the past.
Tomorrow evening’s PIC is Phase 1 of a 3-phased process. The meeting is at 6 pm Thursday, April 27.
Phase 1 of the Character Study, which began in October 2022, involves a review of all relevant background information and existing conditions within and surrounding the study area. The Consultant Team has engaged Town Staff, agencies and other key stakeholders. The findings of Phase 1 will be shared with the public at the PIC starting at 6 pm tomorrow.
Anyone wishing to participate at the PIC must register with Shannon Mista at Shannon.mista@notl.com. You will be sent a registration form and once that form is submitted you will receive a Zoom link.
The Town’s is requesting that you register as soon as possible but prior to 12 noon on Thursday, April 27.
If you do not wish to participate, but only listen registration is not required. The meeting
will be livestreamed and available for viewing at the following link: https://www.notl.com/council[1]government/mayor-council/meetings-agendas-minutes.
The meeting will also be recorded and made available for viewing subsequently.
SORE IS ENCOURAGING RESIDENTS TO REGISTER FOR THE MEETING RATHER THAN SIMPLY WATCHING ON LIVESTREAM. THAT WAY YOU WILL RECEIVE A SECURE ZOOM LINK AND WHILE REGISTERING DOES NOT OBLIGE YOU TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS, IF YOU DO HAVE QUESTIONS, YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO DO SO IF YOU’VE REGISTERED AND ARE WATCHING ON THE ZOOM LINK.
SORE believes that the ultimate result of this Character Area study may be relevant not only to the Rand Estate but to all of Old Town. The study may offer the opportunity to put some important stakes in the ground about what is and is not recommended for the Town in terms of future development.
We hope you are able to register and if not at least watch by livestream. We anticipate that the PIC should be over roughly in time for the Leafs game!
