We are providing this press release as a courtesy to a new fellow residents’ association.
After almost six plus months of discussions and meetings which included representations across many local community groups, ratepayer groups, and concerned citizens, the participants recognized the need for an ‘Our Town’ approach committed to the future of Niagara on the Lake. The newly formed and incorporated Niagara on the Lake Residents Association representing ‘Our Town’ will hold its first Open House meeting on Wednesday, May 14, at the Community Centre, 14 Anderson Lane, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The mission of the association is to advocate for all residents in each of the NOTL communities and rural areas on the basis of shared considerations to deal with issues and find solutions, and to address questions in neighbourhoods, whether they be local or affecting the whole town. The three major tenets of this group are: to respectfully listen and provide informed input to Council and staff; promote integrity, transparency and accountability from Council and staff; and to build capacity towards political leadership.
We encourage residents interested in the future of ‘Our Town’ to come out to the Open House to get more information, hear from the community groups that have been involved and to share your thoughts, ideas, input and concerns as they relate to Council decisions, taxation, traffic, planning and tourism to name just a few. The outcome of the meeting is to increase engagement towards our shared goal for ‘Our Town’.
Mark your calendars for May 14 at 6:30 p.m. and visit our web site at NOTLRA.com and Facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/1308882030155441 to get more information, to join the group and subscribe to newsletters. Niagara on the Lake Residents Association email: [email protected]
