Public input session this Thursday on proposed Marotta Rand Subdivision

Article posted on June 6, 2022

SORE reminds residents and interested parties of the Public Information Session being hosted by the Town this Thursday June 9, starting at 6 pm.

The purpose of this event is to solicit input on the Marotta subdivision proposal.  A link to that proposal and accompanying reports can be found at notl.com/business-development/public-planning-notices

If you wish to say something Thursday evening regarding the proposal, you must register with the Town Clerk by noon on Thursday.  Please email [email protected] or call 905-468-3266.

Things you may wish to comment on include the appropriateness of a high density subdivision on one of the most important heritage estate lots in NOTL, why no heritage impact assessment accompanied the proposal, compatibility with surrounding established  residential neighbourhoods, traffic, why this proposal is even being considered in advance of the Town completing the special study called for in the new Town Official Plan, how the Town’s prosecution of the Marotta group for the 2018 clear cutting of some of the lands in question could affect this proposal and how a proposal that relies on an emergency access crossing the Town-owned Heritage Trail can possibly be considered.  Please reach out to us at [email protected] if you want further information or assistance with your submission.

If you wish to simply view the session, please access it at https://livestream.com/notl.  We believe the video will be archived for those unable to view it on Thursday evening.

You may also submit written comments on the proposal to [email protected].

PLEASE NOTE that the Town has just released a staff information report on the proposal.  The link to view that report is here. The Information Report is Item 1.3.1.

We thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
