SORE nominated for cultural heritage landscape award

Article posted on October 5, 2021

SORE is very pleased to report that ‎it has been nominated for the prestigious Margaret and Nicholas Hill Cultural Landscape Award by Architectural Conservancy Ontario. The ACO nomination announcement can be viewed at acoheritageawards.ca/save-our-rand-estate.

The award recognizes an individual or group that has endeavoured to preserve or raise awareness of and appreciation for a significant Cultural Heritage Landscape as defined by the Ontario Heritage Trust. It was named to honour the Hills, who contributed extensively to the ACO for decades. Nicholas Hill was a pioneer in heritage conservation district planning in Canada.

The recipient of the award will be announced on October 14. ‎We will advise on the outcome then.

SORE’s (and the Town’s) efforts with respect to the iconic Rand Estate are clearly being followed and applauded by ‎the heritage community provincially and beyond. We are grateful to you the community, as well as our dedicated elected Council, for your ongoing support.
